The ENBA project was born in Jyväskylä, a small town in the heart of Finland, driven by a desire to challenge the ongoing greenwashing and misleading marketing in the beauty industry. Our mission is simple: to raise the bar for what natural cosmetics should be.
Our goal? To make high-quality, truly natural cosmetics become the standard — not only in Europe, but around the world.
EVALUATION PROCESS
INGREDIENTS REVIEW
As a first step, our team carefully examines the product’s ingredient list (INCI) and its’ composition to ensure authentic naturality. Only cosmetics formulated with at least 99% ingredients of natural origin make the cut. No shortcuts, no greenwashing.
In 2024, only 17% of the products that claims being natural made it through this first stage.
JURY & PRODUCT TESTING
Being natural isn’t enough. To stand out, a product must also deliver results, have active ingredients and offer a great sensory experience.
Over a 12-week period, the jury tests the products under real-life conditions.
To ensure an accurate evaluation, our jury is composed of 100 members from 35+ countries, the ENBA jury includes cosmetics experts, European certifications, cosmetics retailers, and sustainability specialists. In addition, a panel of 50 stars and public figures, from cinema, music, and sports among others, represent exigent consumers in the jury.
FINAL SEAL
The products that receive the highest evaluations are awarded by the Excellence Awards and they enter the Natural Beauty Directory* – your guide to finding high-quality natural cosmetics.
