Statement from the European Natural Beauty Awards

Withdrawal of Le BHV / Marais Nomination — Department Store of the Year Category
The European Natural Beauty Awards regret to announce the withdrawal of Le BHV / Marais from the list of nominees for Department Store of the Year 2025.
Our decision follows the announcement that happened after the ceremony that Le BHV / Marais will host the first permanent retail corner of SHEIN, a company widely criticised for its unsustainable production practices, opaque supply chains, and disregard for fair labour conditions.
We had previously celebrated Le BHV / Marais for its notable efforts in expanding and supporting natural, ethical, and sustainable beauty offerings within its retail spaces. This initiative represented a positive shift towards responsible retailing in the European beauty sector.
However, aligning with a brand such as SHEIN stands in stark contrast to these values. This partnership represents a step backward for environmental responsibility, product transparency, and fair trade principles—values that lie at the heart of our mission and of Europe’s sustainable beauty movement.
As an organisation committed to supporting true progress, integrity, and planetary respect, we cannot endorse or recognise a store that chooses to collaborate with a company whose business model undermines these principles.
We remain committed to supporting retailers and brands who prioritise sustainability, ethics, and authenticity in every aspect of their operations.
